Local importer commits to the brand, confirms introduction of new models.

Peugeot Citroën Australia, local distributor of Citroën products, has committed to the brand in our market.

The commitment comes as its diminutive sales figure continues to slide in 2020.

As of September, only 139 Citroëns have been reportedly been sold. That figure is down 184 cars from the same time last year, which represents a decrease of -57 per cent year-to-date.

As a comparison, sports car manufacturer Ferrari has reportedly sold 158 examples in the same timeframe.



On top of confirming that the quirky French brand will live to fight another day, general manager of the local arm, Kate Gillis, also mentioned that new products are on the way.

A new, facelifted Citroën C3 small hatchback (pictured above) is due to arrive imminently at the end of 2020, with a “complete change in specification”.

This is expected to be followed by the local launch of the all-new 2021 Citroën C4 – the replacement to the outgoing C4 Cactus.



“Citroën is here to stay in Australia. Comfort is what separates it from the Peugeot brand, which plays more in the design and technology space,” added Gillis.

“The brand has an exciting future in Australia. We’re set to launch a comprehensively refreshed Citroën C3 hatch at the end of 2020, and are expecting to follow that with the all-new Citroën C4 in the second half of 2021.”

Citroën’s local range currently consists of the C3 hatchback, C3 Aircross light SUV and C5 Aircross medium SUV.

The brand has dropped its sole commercial vehicle offering in Australia, the Berlingo, which has contributed to its downward sales slide.
